When asked to comment on what this means, we reached out to our Google contact (pictured), who stated that this was “truly the future of search, and would delight users by only returning Google results on page1, moving all others to page 2 (or the 12th scroll on mobile). Users come to Google expecting to see Google products, so there’s no real need to push everyone else’s sites, unless they’re ads, then we’re good with that.”, when pressed to explain the rationale further he ran away, whooping, flapping his arms quickly.
